President Director of PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (ptba) Arsal Ismail said that his party has started targeting exports to Vietnam amidst the United States-China tariff war."Recently, we have started to enter Vietnam. Until the first quarter (2025), we can still maintain and meet demand from export activities," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday. This, he continued, is one of ptba's strategies following the projection of a decline in demand from Indonesia's export destination countries such as China and India due to the oversupply of coal and uncertainty from the US-China tariff war.He also did not deny that the world coal market outlook was "not good". However, he said he was optimistic that ptba could face the challenge following the Indonesian government's steps to negotiate."This US-China tit-for-tat tariff war, Indonesia will be affected. However, the government quickly negotiated and made various breakthroughs so that the impact on us can at least be anticipated," Arsal explained."However, with the (US-China tariff war), uncertainty still exists. Especially our export destinations such as China, India, South Korea, we still have concerns that if this condition continues, their economic growth will slow down and affect coal demand," he said.On the other hand, he ensured that ptba remains on track regarding the follow-up to their development projects this year. Some of these are the development of renewable energy which includes the pilot plant of Wood Pellet from Kaliandra Merah in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra, PLTS at Soekarno-Hatta Airport which is a collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). Then there is cooperation with Jasa Marga Group for the development of PLTS on toll roads, as well as cooperation with PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) in the construction of PLTS with a capacity of 23.07 kWp.
