The Indonesian government is trying to carry out an energy transition, one of which is by creating a low carbon emissions scenario in the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL).In this scenario, the government targets reducing the percentage of fossil energy, including coal, while increasing the percentage of new and renewable energy (EBT) in the national energy mix.Even though there is a percentage decline, the volume of coal needed for Indonesian power plants is projected to continue to increase. This is in line with plans to increase PLTU capacity in the next decade.Based on RUPTL, during the 2021-2030 period Indonesia intends to increase PLTU capacity by 13.8 thousand megawatts (MW).At the same time, in the low carbon RUPTL scenario , the need for coal for electricity generation is predicted to tend to increase until 2030, as seen in the graph above.RUPTL also predicts that the volume of carbon emissions from power plants will continue to increase, even though the percentage of fossil energy in the energy mix decreases.Image source: Jakarta PostSource:www.databoks.katadata.co.id/Meski Ada Transisi Energi Kebutuhan Batu Bara RI Meningkat Sampai 2030
