This is in line with the company's consistent commitment to support increasing the added value of minerals through downstream programs.MIND ID President Director Hendi Prio Santoso said that 2025 is a crucial period for Indonesia to prove that economic growth performance can be more progressive, with a target of reaching 6-8 percent. This is because the target can be achieved by optimizing the mineral and coal mining industry sector.For this reason, Hendi said, the company will support the government by allocating an investment of IDR 20.6 trillion for five main strategic projects."With this investment value, we will continue to encourage downstreaming programs that are expected to help the government realize more progressive economic growth towards the future of Golden Indonesia 2045," said Hendi in a press release, quoted Sunday (8/12/2024).The projects include MIND ID Group, which will complete the construction of the Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. This smelter is targeted to ramp up production in the first quarter of 2025 and will produce one million tons of alumina per year.Then, MIND ID through PT Inalum plans to build a new aluminum smelter in Kuala Tanjung. With a production capacity of 600 thousand tons of aluminum per year, this project is expected to strengthen the national aluminum industry supply chain.Next on the priority list is the development of a nickel project in East Halmahera. This project includes the construction of a Rotary Kiln-Electric Furnace (RKEF) smelter to produce nickel and a High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) facility for raw materials for electric vehicle batteries."RKEF's production capacity will be increased to 88 thousand tons of nickel, while HPAL is targeted to reach 55 thousand tons of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP)," said Hendi.
