PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) is exploring partnerships with various potential partners to develop more efficient and environmentally friendly bauxite processing technologies.This corporate initiative is part of the company’s effort to realize a zero-waste mining concept.Commercial Director Handi Sutanto said the company is still in the early exploratory stage with a number of parties, both domestic and international.The goal is to find strategic partners with modern bauxite processing technologies that are not yet widely developed globally.Antam is opening opportunities to collaborate with academics, research institutions, and companies with expertise in mineral processing. The aim is to develop technologies that can reduce mining waste to zero while increasing the value extracted from bauxite residues.“The technology isn’t widely available yet. So we’re currently in the partner-search stage. From our side, Antam and also the state, we’re engaging with academics, institutions, and companies that have the technology and can operate it,” Handi said on the sidelines of the International Sustainability Forum (IISF) in Jakarta, Saturday (Oct 11, 2025).“If we can secure the technology, whether in Indonesia or elsewhere, it will enable total mining and zero waste. It’s really ideal, no residual mining waste, and we capture the extraction value for Indonesia,” he added.The development of bauxite processing technology is still at an early stage.The company targets two years for mapping and partner scouting, followed by long-term cooperation expected to materialize starting in 2029.“The mapping may take around two years. The collaboration itself could then move into a long-term phase hopefully by 2029,” Handi said.
