PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (ptba), a member of the MIND ID Group, is targeting production and sales of 49.5 million tonnes in 2026.Arsal Ismail, ptba’s President Director, expressed optimism in a press release on Thursday (2/4), following the approval of the company’s Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) without any reduction in production volumes.He stressed that the company will “focus on efficiency and sustainable business development while maintaining strong adherence to corporate governance.”For context, in 2025 ptba increased its production volume by 9% to 47.2 million tonnes and sales volume by 6% to 45.4 million tonnes, despite a correction in global coal prices.Coal transportation volume rose 6% to 40.4 million tonnes, supported by both domestic and export markets, which accounted for 54% and 46% of total sales respectively.Arsal added that a cost leadership strategy through selective mining and supply chain optimisation will be the company’s “main engine” to maintain competitiveness in global markets, including expansion into Europe and strengthening its position in Asia.ptba has exported coal to Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, South Korea and the Philippines, and is now expanding into Spain and Romania.The state-owned coal miner recorded net profit of IDR 2.92 trillion in the 2025 financial year, down 42.6% year on year.Revenue was broadly flat, slipping 0.27% to IDR 42.6 trillion, weighed by softer coal prices.In terms of share performance, ptba’s stock has risen 29.31% since the start of 2026 to IDR 3,000 per share.Over the past month, the stock has edged up 0.67%, and in today’s trading, as of 1:48 PM, it had gained a further 3.09%.
