Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A ray of hope appeared on the face of Ruhana (60), a resident of Mantuil Village, Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, when she received hearing aids from PT adaro Indonesia.
“I can hear again,” says Ruhana here on Friday.
For two years, she experienced severe hearing loss in both ears.
Now, the sound and tone that long gone from her, began she feel their beauty again.
Not only Ruhana, other beneficiary of hearing aid program from OT adaro Indonesia, Marni (57), from Padangin village, felt her life changed after her hearing returned to normal.
"Thank you for the aid," said Marni with eyes shining with gratitude.
The world they have never experienced and they need to practice to get used of hearing and speaking.
The initiative of providing hearing aids is part of PT adaro Indonesia's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program for deaf people.

Akhmad Fiteriyadi, CSR Program Foreman for Health, expounded that this program started with social mapping in 2022.
"We found that many people around adaro's operational area have disabilities, including deaf people," he recalled.
This year, adaro helped 15 deaf people spread across several villages, namely Mantuil, Padangin, Barimbun, Kasiau, Kinarum, Masingai, Bilas, and also Mabuun SLB students in Tabalong.
"Our hope is that with this assistance they can hear again and communicate more fluently with the surrounding people," added Fiteriyadi.
For those who have hearing loss from birth, further guidance is needed to ensure they can understand and communicate well in the future.
adaro is committed to improve the quality of life of the community, providing opportunities for them to re-engage in better social ineractions.
