PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) continues to strengthen its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the use of electric heavy equipment in mining.By implementing the eco mechanized mining concept , PTBA has replaced fossil fuel-based mining equipment with more environmentally friendly electrical technology.One of the real implementations of this initiative is the use of seven electric shovel units (PC3000-6E) and 40 hybrid dump trucks (Belaz-75135) at the Banko Barat mine, Muara Enim, South Sumatra. This step has shown significant results in saving energy and reducing emissions."We implement good mining practices with decarbonization programs. One of the steps taken by PTBA is eco mechanized mining , which is replacing mining equipment that uses fossil fuels with electric ones," said PTBA Corporate Secretary, Niko Chandra, to Fortune Indonesia .The positive impact of this electrification strategy is very real. PTBA managed to save up to 200 million kWh of energy from the use of electric shovels during the period 2017-2023.
